English Swan, Hunter Wigham Richardson Ships Telegraph No. 1858, 1940 English Swan, Hunter Wigham Richardson Ships Telegraph with twin faced head and English commends on a brass column. The bell rings loudly when you change the handle from one compartment to another. This is no. 1858, 1940, Newcastle-on-Tyne The measurement is 54,5 cm high, 18,5 cm wide and the depth is 13,5 cm The weight is 5590 grams Swan, Hunter Wigham Richardson, Ltd. Newcastle Upon Tyne, Swan, Hunter Wigham Richardson, Ltd., based at the Neptune Works, built cable ships for many of the world's cable companies. Swan Hunter was founded in 1880 and merged in 1903 with Wigham Richardson (founded by John Wigham Richardson as Neptune Works in 1860), to bid for the contract to build the Mauretania for the Cunard company. Their bid was successful and the new company, Swan Hunter Wigham Richardson Ltd, continued building the Mauretania and many other ships. The company continues to operate as a shipbuilding design, engineering and management company based in Wallsend, but ceased shipbuilding on Tyneside in 2006.
