About the Item

Wonderfully ornate gilt gesso over carved wood processional cross, probably northern Italy late 18th century. The large floral wreath with carved gilt ribbons, a small cross to the centre sits atop a pair of crossed Torchiere, all upon the spiked footed base. The cross has been mounted upon a removable later (likely 19th century) carved wooden base, which has been dark stained. Age related wear. 80cm Height, 45cm Width, 30cm Depth, Black base 19cm width across bottom
