About the Item

18th century hand carved, painted and gilt triangular wood base with three angel heads with wings. The charming faces of the cherubs are hand painted with black hair and red lips, each with their own individual personality. This unique piece retains much of the original paint and gilding. A wonderful artifact on it's own, this carving will also make a wonderful base for a Santos or cross, or really, any piece of sculpture or ceramic from any era from the ancient to the modern. 11.5 inches wide 10.5 deep 2 high Provenance: Ex Collection Frances Pratt, Writer, Artist, Collector. New York City.
