About the Item
Impressive 19th-century bronze bust of Christ with the Crown of Thorns, signed E. Marioton. The sculpture depicts Christ in a moment of serene sorrow, his head slightly bowed beneath a beautifully openworked crown of thorns. The fine modelling of the features and flowing hair reflects the refined craftsmanship of Eugène Marioton (1854–1933), a renowned French sculptor known for his allegorical and religious works.
This example was cast by the distinguished Siot Foundry in Paris. The piece has a rich, warm patina and a powerful spiritual presence.
In good condition, with minor wear consistent with age.
