About the Item

19th century gold gilt carved holy water We are proud to offer an exceptional example of an Italian 19th century gold gilt carved wood holy water. In untouched form this item is close to perfect with amazing detail and carved sections. Including from the bottom up a pair of putti heads, a carved holy water bowl with a bird face down. To the top a trio of young birds being fed by their mother. The caring is surrounded by floral detail and still has its original brass hanging hook to the reverse, a real piece of religious art in our opinion with strong colours and original paint intact. Size in inches: H 14” x W 10.5” x D 2” Period: 19th Century Material: Wood Origin: Italy Condition: Good Completely solid in structure and form, with a natural patination across the surface. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
