About the Item

A set of four antique glazed encaustic 4 ¼ inch tiles (unmarked) together forming a decorative ecclesiastical tile panel depicting a cardinal moline cross within a quatrefoil with fleur de lys corners. Dating from the mid 19th century, these reclaimed tiles are in good condition for their age, the terracotta and buff tones still rich in colour after more than 175 years. Supplied loose, this is an excellent collector’s piece, any wear only adding to the unique beauty of these antique tiles. Each tile: 10.5 x 10.5 x 2 cm (4 ¼ inch)
