Large size and impressive Gothic church altar set This beautifully shaped and all handcrafted brass crucifix comes with a top quality made and finely detailed, gilt bronze corpus of Christ. The cross is decorated with several meaningful Gothic elements such as the Gothic style halo behind the upper body of Jesus. The circular brass elements with the meaningful images on either side, above and below the body of Christ are some of the other details that make this crucifix a real eye-catcher and talking piece. The fleur de lis symbols tell us that this work of religious art is of French origin. There are minor imperfections to two of the fleur de lis tips and there is an old Restauration to the stem (best seen in image 19). In our view these imperfections take nothing away from the quality, rarity, class, beauty and meaning of this antique set. The pair of matching Gothic candlesticks that, just like the crucifix, also have quartrefoil shaped bases completes this meaningful and highly decorative set. They come with seal-like inserts of crosses that we think are enameled. With the candles lit in the evenings, this church altar set becomes even more devine and at our price we expect it to find a new home soon.
