The Saint to whom we owe Valentine's day! If finding a saint Valentine statue was not special enough, we found one that could very well be of life-size. Bearing in mind of course that Valentine lived somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd century A.D. and humans were much smaller than today. And if the size of this rare Valentine was not special enough then the quality will make it even more desirable. The natural posture, the facial features and the overall details of this holy man are second to none. The veins on his hands, for example, are extremely realistic. Because of all this, he really has a presence that changes the energy of the room he is in. There are many stories that explain why Valentine's name is now associated with THE day for lovers, but this (in short) is the one that appeals to us the most: it is said that Valentine was a bishop who married Christians with heathens. At the time this was strictly forbidden and when asked why he did so anyway, he said that the love between two people was more important to him than anything written in any book. Unfortunately for Valentine this cost him his life. Apart from two (easy to restore) damages to the black robe and two fingers that may have been glued back this stunning saint Valentine statue is in excellent condition. In image 9 you can see that this turn of the century Valentine has a wooden base with plaster around it. Through the openings in the bottom one can also see that the inside of this plaster and hand-painted statue is strengthened with a construction of wooden sticks.
