About the Item

A carved wood figure of a New World Saint labeled S. Pedro (i.e. San Pedro) with some of the original dark green paint preserved. It is labeled on the front. The figure would have had separately made arms and head and dressed in fabric garments along with a halo often made of gold. It appears that the figure was clothed in a long garment reaching almost to the bare feet. It stands on a circular pedestal. There is a San Pedro of Guatemala known as "The Saint Francis of the Americas" (1626-1667) who was finally canonized in 2002. This Santos may be a representation of him wearing a long Franciscan robe. Dimensions: 28" high x 6 1/2" deep x 8" wide Condition: Please review the detail photos. There are the losses of the head and arms along with major wear overall. Cracks appear down the front, on the base and at the top back. There is flaking and scrapes to the wood on the base and paint losses. There is an intentional cutout at the lower back of the robe for some sort of original attachment. Discoloration on the legs and feet and still retaining a powerful Sculptural presentation
