About the Item
An ornate 18th/19th century European silver mounted brass and wood Catholic crucifix.
The rosewood cross mounted with a gilt brass Corpus (body of Christ). The 'Inri' sign (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum), large halo behind the cross and mounts at the ends of the cross made of silver. The silver is apparently un-marked but we had it professionally tested and guarantee it to be silver of approximately 800/1000.
The gold paint on the sides of the rosewood cross is not original to the piece and a later 'addition'.
