The Olot School of Art and Design, still in operation today, continues the tradition of artistic education in the province of Girona.

Cabinet of curiosities of plaster figures and pieces showcased in a wood and glass display.
Made in traditional Catalan atelier in Olot, Spain, circa 1950.
Olot has a long tradition in the production of sculptures and religious imagery. The art and industry of religious statuary has been established throughout the city since the 19th century, the most important representative being "El Arte Cristiano", founded by Marià Vayreda and still in existence today, where the notable sculptors Miguel Blay and Josep Clarà, among many others, worked. Today, the Olot School of Art and Design has become the centre for artistic education in the province of Girona and offers courses ranging from the Artistic Bachelaureate to Higher Level Studies.
In original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
