About the Item
An unusual piece bearing a label under base. A symbol of Christianity, the Celtic cross first appeared in the 8th century. Legends say that St Patrick introduced the Celtic Cross to Ireland and that the circle within the cross symbolises the pagan sun. The circle was a powerful symbol to ancient Irish people. Places such as Stonehenge were believed to hold magical powers being circular. The Celtic Cross takes from that power. Carved stone with a different stone at base. Slate base with tag stating the piece was found in Cornwall England.
