About the Item

Exceptional silver cross with a figure of Christ, made in Naples, Italy, around 1850. The cross shape is typically Catholic, crafted like a piece of wood, masterfully hollowed out. The very classical structure features the INRI scroll, with the figure of Christ, a three-nail type, attached below. The lower part is a skull with bones. All parts of the cross are made of silver and hallmarked, even the eyelet at the top for hanging the cross. The cross is hallmarked with GA, a cross, the letter N, and 8. This hallmark was used in Naples from 1839 onwards, fineness of the silver is 834. Naples in southern Italy was a center for religious silver art at that time. Measurements approx.: height 11,61 in - 29,5 cm, width 6,30 in - 16 cm, depth 1,38 in - 3,5 cm Decorate your wall with a historic silver object, the outstanding work of a master goldsmith.
