Plaster Art Deco statue of Jesus, mounted on a beautifully crafted wooden stand by belgian artist André Taeckens.
From the age of thirteen André Taeckens (1906-1965) was apprenticed to stonemason Aleyn. Later he took modelling lessons at the Art Academy in Ghent with Geo Verbanck. He became a sculptor and designer of medals. His preference went to figures, torsos, busts and portraits. He worked mainly with bronze, marble and stone.
This rare piece captures the essence of faith and devotion.
