A striking 19th-century Russian icon depicting St. John the Warrior, painted with exceptional attention to detail and lavish use of gilt highlights. Revered as a protector and intercessor for the oppressed, St. John is traditionally portrayed as a soldier-saint, and this finely executed panel captures him in full regalia, an ornate cuirass, flowing cloak, and commanding stance, symbolizing spiritual strength and righteous defense.
