About the Item
Wonderful cross with micro mosaic inlays, it is an early example of a souvenir - perhaps from a pilgrimage - to Rome, Italy, made in the 1920s / 30s.
This so-called Grand Tour object is of special quality. All free areas of the front are covered with a mosaic - handmade with tiny glass stones. The ends of the cross show important religious cityscapes of Rome, at the top St Peter in the Vatican.
A figure of Christ is mounted on the middle bridge. Behind his head there is further inlay work with the dove of peace motif.
Measurements approx.: height 24,2 in - 9,53 cm, width 5,31 in - 13,5 cm, depth 0,59 in - 1,5 cm.
The outstanding quality and particularly good preservation make this piece a stunning collector's item. The vibrant colors are particularly beautiful. It can be hung up immediately using the ring at the top.
