Rare high quality 19th Century anatomical model of a dissected wax head mounted on a framed board (wall hanging). Striking display piece. Highly detailed modelling. Probably German. European anatomical wax model of a human head, left profile, mounted on board. Realistic depictions of teeth, jaw, tongue, muscles, veins, facial hair, nervous and arterial system of the head and neck. Label and label remains on front of board. In the 18th and 19th centuries, students used intricate wax anatomical models that vividly represented organs, bones, and tissue. Good condition for period. Small area of glued restoration to top back area of skull, next to very small repaired chip (1cm x 0.2cm) with some repainting, and other possible gluing of small crack. Front of face, mouth, teeth and neck in very good condition. Some cracking around frame of wooden board. The wooden board frame has a bracket for wall hanging, or it can be displayed laying down on a pedestal or table. Head H: 21cm / W: 21cm / D: 13cm (Frame W: 43cm x H: 38cm).
