About the Item

Accessorize a study, office, or library with this elegant antique French barometer, crafted in France circa 1850 and richly decorated in the champlevé enamel technique. The scientific instrument displays vibrant enamel panels in shades of cobalt, emerald, and coral, each filled with scrolling foliage and traditional hunt motifs, including a finely rendered stag, a bird in flight, and botanical accents. The lower section is shaped like a letter-pouch form, complete with raised hoof-shaped decoration and suspended by a pair of adjustable bronze “bandoulière” straps, adding charm and sculptural interest. The piece combines practical function with artistic craftsmanship, and the barometer remains in excellent working condition. This rare 19th-century champlevé example makes a thoughtful gift for an avid hunter or a refined addition to a gentleman’s study. Dimensions: 4" W x 14" H.
