About the Item

A Louis XVI Period Barometer Thermometer Combination, originating in France dating from the last quarter of the 18th century. The workings enclosed by a gilt-wood case with carved designs of foliage a tied bow capping the thermometer shaft. The Barometer Thermometer both no longer in working condition, but retaining their original glass fronts, tubing, painted gauges. The charts are elegantly inscribed with atmospheric 'conditions' in French.
