Mid-20th Century European Museum Mushroom Specimen Encased in a glass cube this mid-20th Century papier mache, hand painted large teaching aid mushroom specimen stands 16.5 inches tall. Detailed in its natural habitat with earth, weeds and a dried flower. Stood on a wooden base and firmly in place. Size in inches: H 16.5 x W 13” x D 11” Origin: EU Date: Mid-20th Century Condition: Good A naturally aged item that shows light age and wear in the form of worn labels and faded wooden base. Hand painted leather forms covered in floral motifs, and with a central coat of arms (DTO FAVENE) stating “To General J.H Marden & Mrs Marden, Frum Officers & Men of BTC. ESP, Dated The 22 Sep 1948. History: The Remarkable O.B.E. Group of 20 awarded Lieutenant-General John Harold Marden, O.B.E., Commander-in-Chief of Bahawalpur State Forces, late 2nd / 76th Punjabis. Having served as a Second Lieutenant late on in the Great War, and on the North West Frontier in 1919-21 with the forces of the Maharajah of Nabha. Some years later in the 1930s he joined the Army of Bahawalpur, becoming its Commander-in-Chief, and serving (and being wounded) during the periods of unrest leading up to and after the partition of India and the creation of the Dominion of Pakistan in 1947.
