Once these along with scales were common place in Doctors Surgeries, Chemist Shops and Drug stores, the patient stood on the square base and the level was lowered on the gauge to the top of the head to accurately measure the height. It has a steel gauge on one side and another one etched on to the wood
A charming piece of piece of history, the stand is made in beech and in good condition, no breaks or other damage
The overall height of the stand is 88”, the base is 16” wide and 16” back to front
