About the Item

A fabulous pair of antique English polished brass binoculars meticulously professionally cleaned and polished, restoring them to their former glory; the barrels wrapped in leather. They focus wonderfully and and the eye pieces having eye shields that swivel across to the outside when in use and swivel back to the centre for packing away in the case. One of the barrels is signed by the maker W. Watson Sons, London with the number 1830, this is also engraved on each brass eye piece; I am unsure if this is the date of the company was established, I believe it was established in 1837 in London. The pair dates to the First World War, with the military issue crow's foot mark on both one of the brass barrels together with the impressed mark on the lid of the leather case. A superb and highly collectable pair of history in excellent condition. An impressive size, the case measuring 6 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" deep x 8 3/4" tall.
