Utilisé par Maurice Herzog en 1950 le sherpa népalais Tensing Norgay également pour la première ascension de l’Everest le 29 mai 1953 aux côtés d’Edmund Hillary, photographié avec son piolet français au sommet de la plus haute montagne du monde, seule preuve de cet exploit.
