About the Item
Step into the dawn of tow-surfing with this late-1990s 6′10" Dick Brewer tow board, shaped during a time when tow-ins were just beginning to expand the limits of big-wave possibility. Its slightly extended length—hallmark of the earliest tow prototypes—captures the experimentation and breakthrough thinking that defined the birth of modern big-wave riding.
Designed for the raw speed and power of Peahi (Jaws) on Maui, the board features triple 6 oz heavy-duty glassing and stout T-band stringers, providing the strength and rigidity demanded by the world’s heaviest surf. A rare artifact from tow-surfing’s formative years and a genuine reflection of Brewer’s visionary big-wave craftsmanship.
One of a pair of tow boards made back to back, serial number 0048. See adjacent orange Dick Brewer Tow Board, serial number 0047.
