Very few of these Duke Kahanamoku skateboard point of sale display lamps were ever made, making this a classic and exceptionally rare piece of Duke Kahanamoku memorabilia. Standing 18 inches tall and 14 inches wide, with an illuminated center depicting a great likeness of Duke himself and two miniature Duke skateboard decks attached to the sides this item looks great perched on a shelf or standing on a table. Use as a night-light, small accent light or a tabletop or shelf talking-point display. A super rare piece of surf and skate culture that will surely add to the home of a surf-shacks enthusiast. During the 1960s Duke had both of these featured these skateboards licensed under his name. In the 1990s Duke Kahanamoku skateboards were reproduced under the assumption that the new manufacturer had the legal rights to use the Duke Kahanamoku name. This however turned out to be not the case and so the production was extremely short lived. Rumor has it that whilst some of the Kahanamoku clan were on board with the family name usage, others were not, resulting in a judicious withdrawal of the skateboards from the market by its investors. Therefore only a handful of original examples of skateboards survive and possibly only this one example of the point-of-sale display.
