About the Item
Hardy Perfect 4¼" Salmon Fly Fishing Reel.
A good Hardy Perfect salmon fly reel with Bakelite handle, ribbed brass foot, rim tension screw and constant check mechanism made by Hardy Bros. Ltd., Alnwick, England. The revolving front plate marked "Made by Hardy Bros. Ltd., Alnwick, England. Size 4¼, The "PERFECT" Fly Reel, Pat Nos. 24245 &9261, Duplicated Mark II'. Large slotted screw to enable easy release of front plate.
A great usable reel still with most of the original finish.
The 5 cm depth shown is without handle, handle is an extra 2½ cm.
There are some product information images taken from old Hardy catalogues. The "Perfect" reel is made of "Alumin" in three solid parts (the line drum, frame and revolving plate). They are fitted with ball-bearings and are almost frictionless. The check work is our Patent Compensating design, which may be regulated to brake fish, or when desired "striking" can be done direct from the reel, the tension being increased or decreased at the pleasure of the user according to the fineness of the tackle. The great advantage of the regulator is that, when properly adjusted, breakages, through too hard striking, do not occur.
