Jacobs surfboard fully restored, blue, white and red, early 1960s. This majestic early 1960s surfboard has been fully restored, is a real eye-catcher and a board that any collector would be proud to display. The three logos, black competition stripes, clear white body with blue rails and red and blue tail block and fixed original wooden fin, offer a graphic sensibility that blends Mid-Century Modern aesthetics with California Beach Boy sensibility. All logos are period originals, the board displays wonderfully and could be paired with our red Greg Noll and Hanson Stars and Stripes surfboards (listed separately). Dimensions: 108" long x 21.5 inches wide x 10 inches deep at the fin and 2.5 inches thick at the rails. Widely considered one of the most influential shapers of the 20th century Hap Jacobs' surfboard shaping career spanned over 50 years. Initially Jacobs and Dale Velzy opened their joint venture (1954) as Velzy-Jacobs Surfboards, building mostly solid balsa wood surfboards with fiberglass skin. Jacobs then began experimenting with the newly invented fiberglass and foam, creating these well designed, lighter, faster boards. In 1960 Jacobs opened his first store along Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach and introduced the iconic red-diamond logo seen on this board.
