Educational botanical model in section of the sunflower flower showing its inner part, this is an enlarged and decomposable inner tubular corolla of a concrescent petal section in the sunflower disk flower Heliantus annuus.
Bakelite production from the GDR of the 1950s.
Good condition, Height 32 cm - inches 11.6, base diameter 12 cm - inches 4.7.
he sunflower is native to the western United States where it was an important source of nutri-
ments for local populations. It was introduced to our continent from the beginning of the
1500 with ornamental and medicinal purposes. It has been considered an oil plant since the 1700s and
only in 1860 did genetic improvement studies begin to increase its oil content.
Sunflower achieved an important place in European agriculture after the First War
World due to the many benefits of its cultivation: enhancement of environments
to summer drought, good productivity, extraction of excellent quality oil.
