Raven boxwood okimono sculpture
Located in PARIS, FR
Okimono or boxwood sculpture integrating the natural shape and texture of a tormented section of a boxwood branch, used to reveal the form of a corvid. This type of scholar's object, which uses natural marvels as a medium for sculpture, is common in China, the birthplace of calligraphy. However, a similar aesthetic can be found in many Sinicized countries, whether it involves Japanese okimono made of wood or ivory, or Chinese dream stones...

1920s Czech Taxidermy Cow Tur Domácí Bos Taurus Hind Leg Bone Classroom Study
Located in Haarlem, NL
Very interesting early 20th Century Czech made taxidermy cow "Tur Domácí Bos Taurus" hind leg for classroom study, probably used at a University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The leg is at least a hundred years old, you can see by the way it is fixed together (the curly iron thread) and the surface ware of the real bones, it is smooth and yellowish. The iron and wood holder however is probably aded very recently (my guess is in the 80s 90s). Tur Domácí Bos Taurus (which is Czech and Latin for domestic bovine, or domestic cow) is an even-toed ungulate from the genus Bos of the bovine family...

This English 1950s heavy sterling silver bracelet has 17 large three-dimensional charms and opens or closes with a heart shaped padlock on a little safety chain. Some of the charms have moving or opening parts. The windmill really turns, the lid of the beer mug opens, the ship opens up, the leaves on the orange are separate from the orange, the bellow bellows, the treasury chest opens, the corn has loose leaves and the scissors 'cut'. Three of them are European solid silver pendants: the acorn (Italy 925) the long pendant (sword Dutch 835, used from 1906-1953) the German beer mug...

1925 Silver Austrian Charivari or Watch Chain Necklace with Hunting Charm Fobs
Located in Haarlem, NL
Late 19th-early 20th century silver Austrian charivari or watch chain necklace with Hunting charm fobs. Lovely piece of historic Austrian folkloristic jewellery, a real collector’s item this is. A charivari is a piece of traditional Bavarian costume jewellery; this one is made of solid silver. Bavarian men wear the charivari on the belt of their Lederhosen, women wear them as an apron tie or bodice closure. This piece is quite heavy and sturdy. The size of its shackles and the chain length tells me this actually is a men’s charivari. It traditionally served as jewellery or as a talisman for a successful hunt. The charivari originated from a watch chain, which was attached to the buttonhole of the costume shirt and was hung with various hunting trophies. It could not be bought, was carefully preserved and was passed down in a single family through the generations. This one is adorned with rare trinkets; a 1912 coin of the Austrian-Hungarian Emperor a silver male Dachshund charm a set of deer teeth in silver (aka Grandel or Gradln) a silver staggering horse fob...
