About the Item

This 19th-century French Meerschaum pipe, marked with the maker's trade label "Peristyle Montpensier," is a fine example of craftsmanship from the period. The pipe, though well used, remains in very good condition and retains its original distressed wood. It is accompanied by its silk-lined case, which shows age but has survived remarkably well. The case’s original hinges have long since failed and have been carefully replaced with leather straps, adding to the authenticity and charm of the piece. The pipe itself, although showing signs of use, is in good condition, and the set as a whole offers a pleasing look of age and character. With its storied past, this pipe is a wonderful addition for collectors of 19th-century French pipes or those seeking a unique, historically rich item.
