About the Item

This striking Mid-Century Modern ceramic ashtray was designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi in Italy during the 1950s–60s. Part of the iconic Rimini Blu series, the piece features a bold square cubus shape and a vivid blue and green glaze with carved geometric patterns and incised decoration. The ashtray is made of terracotta and hand-glazed in the vibrant, textured “Rimini Blu” palette that has become synonymous with Bitossi’s mid-century design language. It showcases two notches on the rim, a deeply recessed bowl, and intricate impressed and pierced decoration that adds visual rhythm and depth to its form. This collectible ashtray is not only functional but also serves as a decorative art object. A classic example of Italian ceramic artistry and a true statement piece for any mid-century or modern interior.
