About the Item
This is a wonderful ceramic tobacco box with a so-called oxblood glaze, made in Hungary in the 1920s.
This lidded box is shaped like an egg resting on three ball feet; the top part can be removed to serve as a lid. The central part of the body is decorated with dancing women wearing top hats. They dance in a line, going all the way around the egg - thus, the object can be viewed from all sides.. A typical Art Deco motif, masterfully crafted in relief.
Unfortunately, the piece is unmarked.
