Art Nouveau sterling silver match safe. Made by Unger Bros in Newark, ca 1900. Curved with whiplash scrolls and hinged cover. On front in relief the poignant scene from Goethe’s Faust with Marguerite plucking the petals off a daisy, intoning the age-old “He loves me, loves me not.” On back engraved interlaced script monogram. Fully marked including maker’s stamp.
