About the Item

Large, Victorian Period, sterling silver-mounted Doulton Lambeth Pottery match striker. The sterling silver mount is hallmarked London, year dated 1891, Henry Charles Freeman - maker. The Doulton Lambeth pottery mark is on the underside of the bottom of the piece. The entire match striker measures 4 inches high x 4 1/2 inches diameter. The Doulton Lambeth pottery is threaded on the top portion of the striker (to facilitate match striking) and is decorated with country scenes. The pedestal base acts as a receptacle for the matches. There are some small, minor dints on the sterling silver mount (see photos) that are commensurate with age and use. Dark areas on silver in photos are reflections. In good antique condition.
