About the Item
This rare bisque porcelain doll , a so called Marotte, was created out of bisque porcelain in 1880 ca. The doll is dressed as a jester, the two tone costume and bonnet are in good condition. The doll is dressed in a cotton underdress made out of nettle. There is another cotton dress over the nettle with lace trimming. The red and cream triangles of the jester outfit are made out of silk and have also lace trimming. The bonnet is also made out of red and cream coloured silk with lace trimming. The dress hides the metal mechanism of the musical automat. The stick made of pine wood rotates. The rotation sets the music box in motion and the garment flying.
