About the Item
This compact is designed as a pierrette and was handcrafted in 1920 ca. The circular lid of the compact is made from card that is decorated with handprinted Art Deco ornaments. The pierrette wears a beige felt tricorn hat decorated with an oval felt dot in the front of the hat. The dress is made from padded yellow fabric decorated with stylized buttons made from red felt. The neck is surrounded by a collar made of different layers of white tulle embellished with decorative stitching along the edges. Where the yellow fabric is connected to the box a border of a polychrome woven band has been added. The base of the compact is designed as golden stars and dots on a beige background. There is some damage to the card where presumably a label or a price have been ripped off.
