We found this wonderful 19th century French marionette in Rouen France. The puppet, and its art form, have been a mainstay of French cultural life for hundreds of years and is integral to the cultural fabric in France. Puppet shows were often used to denounce social injustice by taking the side of the little people and making fun of the bourgeois and the authorities. We have added a stand so the marionette can stand alone. This piece weighs 1 lb.
