About the Item
Like new (looks like it has never been used); this Department 56 "The Grand Creamery" is an original (not a copy) building from the "Season's Bay" series; first edition made in 1998 and retired in 1999. A wired small light bulb accompanies the piece to light up the Ice Cream Parlor. See all of thr imbedded markings on the underneath attesting to its origins. Made of hand painted porcelain it still has all of its original packaging and packaging material and comes with its original box (see images). The flag pole is still in its original wrapper!!---hardly used. The Grand Creamery building is nicely hand painted in colors of brown (two shades), yellow, green and white, and a heavy dose of mauve on all four sides; decorated with several multi-paned windows, a bench, signage, a thatched roof, and entry door. No chips, no cracks and no touch up or restoration. If you buy this from me you will be contacting me for additional pieces because of the beautiful condition.
Dimensions: 7" high x 7 1/4" wide 6 1/2" deep
Accessories included:
1) "Village Monuments" Includes three hand painted porcelain statues of "heros, dignitaries, and other important people" 4" high; 3 1/4" high; 4" high.
2) "Playing in The Snow" Hand painted porcelain of three different children's figures playing in the snow; all about 2" high
The above two accessory items are in near mint condition with the original packing material and box.
Department 56 was established in 1976 with the intent of creating decorative winter and Christmas themed scenes that light up so that collectors could decorate their homes and businesses for the holidays.
Although Department 56 is an American Company all of their items, since their inception in 1976, were made overseas.

Very attractive and well-made decorative and colorful Staffordshire porcelain money box or savings bank; made in England, indicative of the style potters from that region employed, circa 1880. Nicely detailed with green floral facie, orange double pane windows and front door, and a white painted cottage with brown steps and green fauna at entry. There were no "coin traps" or provisions for coin removal so banks such as these are rare since smashing or breaking the bank was the only method by which the money could be retrieved.
The bank is in very good all original condition with only a minor "hairline" repair to one of the chimney stacks (see image). It is very sound and done a long time ago and is hardly noticeable.
Being a cross collectible, this would be a very unique addition for a Staffordshire collector indeed (the subject being a money box), or a welcome compliment to any still bank...
