About the Item

A hand-carved wooden bowl with nine antique nail-studded iron boules that were used for boule Lyonnaise or pétanque games. Each ball was handcrafted with densely packed nails that give them substantial weight necessary for play. The balls vary in size and design. Beyond their game use, the balls are beautiful artifacts reminiscent of textured fruits or eggs. Display them as decor for coffee tables or as shelf baubles. The bowl may be a later addition, made separately from the balls.
