This is an antique extending book slide. A French, burr walnut and brass book rack, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1850.
Superb Victorian book slide with charming enamel medallions
Displays a desirable aged patina, slight crack to one medallion
Striking burr walnut shows fine grain interest and warm caramel hues
Brass mounts to either end present subtle golden tones
Ends presented with oval cutouts over painted enamel foliate scenes
