About the Item

A detailed pair of "Grand Dad" bronze book ends designed in the 1920's by American bronze sculptor Gregory Seymour Allen (1884-1934). Both pieces are signed G. S. Allen on the back. The finely sculpted scene is set with a bespectacled "Grand Dad" sitting by the fireplace, reading his book with slippers by his feet and his dog under his chair, candlesticks and clock on the shelf and pot on the range. The back of the bookends show the back of the stone chimney breast. Dimensions per bookend.
