About the Item
One (1) Italian ceramic gold and silver scallop seashell bookend, circa early to mid-20th century, Italy. Bookend has both gold and silver gilt scallop seashells, two gold gilt acanthus leaves at base, red burgundy hue on side and back, black at base, and a flexible brass metal plate at back. Piece is Italian as marked on underside (images #15 and 16), in the manner of French designer Andre Groult. A beautiful bookend or decorative object as demonstrated. Colors included red burgundy, black, gold and silver gilt. Dimensions: 6.25" width x 6.75" height.
