This is an example of an early 20th century Lignum Vitae bowling ball on stand. This ball was not drilled for finger grips, perhaps because of the split shown in the photos. The ball would make a great decorative element for a masculine study or office.

This a good example of a 19th century Scottish Lignum vitae carpet or lawn ball. Lignum Vitae is one of the hardest woods and has always been the wood of choice for carpet, lawn and bocce balls.
