This is a pair of antique animalier bookends. A French, spelter bronze dog bust mounted upon red onyx by Prosper Lecourtier (1851-1924), dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Striking decorative appeal from one of the 19th century's most heralded animal sculptors
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order throughout
Superior craftsmanship to each portrait, realised in quality spelter bronze
Representing a spaniel and a hound, with deep hues and appealing tonality
