About the Item

This set of cast and bronze finished metal sculptural bookends were made in 1928, presumably in the United States, in the American Colonial style. Each bookend does have a manufacturer's mark cast into it in a bottom corner, but deemed illegible and no specific maker could be identified. The bookends are quite detailed and depict a Western cowboy on horseback hunched over with the horses poised to transcend a steep incline. These detailed bookends were finished with a bronze or brass patina.
