About the Item
A pair of English Art Deco period (circa 1930) figural bronze and onyx bookends featuring Chinese children; a seated Chinese boy reading a book and another similar boy peering over the top of the bookend, two books at his feet. The onyx bases engraved "H.M. White" for female sculptor Hester Mabel White (England, 1848-1948).
These bookends are featured on Bryan Catley's (1978) "Art Deco and Other Figures" p. 330.
