About the Item

Dietrich Reimer was a significant German globe manufacturer in the 19th to early 20th centuries. His work was renowned for its highly detailed political and physical maps showing ocean currents, trade routes and sea telegraph cables. This example is an 8 inch diameter terrestrial globe signed "Dietrich Reimers Erdglogus further signed "herausgegebe von dem Kartogr. Institut, Dietrich Reimer (E. Vohsen) A.G." Berlin 1921." The sphere is supported on a simple mahogany columnar base.
