About the Item

Use this charming antique folding library ladder to access books or display decorative objects in any study or living space. Crafted in France circa 1870, the 19th-century step ladder is built in pine with a warm, naturally aged patina and features six graduated steps rising to a tall platform at the top. The ladder opens on a splayed A-frame supported by iron-hinged braces, and folds completely flat for easy storage when not in use. Hand-shaped side rails, exposed pegged joinery, and worn edges throughout speak to its authentic period use and rustic character. Sturdy and full of French country charm, this functional accent would be ideal in a library, pantry, boutique display, or beside a tall bookcase or armoire. The ladder is in good condition commensurate with age and use, and operates smoothly both opened and closed. Measures (open): 19.25" W x 38" D x 47.75" H. Measures (closed): 19.25" W x 8" D x 59" H. Top step height: 47.75".
