About the Item
This handsome hand pegged French library ladder from the late nineteenth century is constructed of oak and features a hand rail on the left side, providing stability when climbing for hard-to-reach books. A platform at the top serves as a place to set books when taking them down from shelves. With five steps that could also act as unique shelving for display, this piece is ready to grace any home library or office. The front feet are finished with bronze sabots and from floor to the top step measures 48.5 inches in height. Found in the Ile de France region of France, circa 1880.
