About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso amethyst purple with red core Italian art glass obelisk paperweight sculpture. Created for the Fornasa De Murano A L'Insegna Del Moreto company, and attributed to designer Galliano Ferro. There is a partial label still attached to the bottom of the piece (see photos). Similar in design to Cenedese figures and sculptures. Created with Neodymium "Alexandrite" glass, which changes color from daylight to indoor light. In this case from an amethyst to icy teal blue color. The piece has 6 sides, and tappers at the top to a point. The paperweight has a pyramid design, with a teardrop decoration inside. Would make a great display piece on any desk, dresser or coffee table. Late Mid-century era. Measures: 7 1/8” tall x 2 3/4" wide at the base.
